Sprint Galaxy Nexus Release Date Is April 22nd?
Samsung Galaxy Nexus was showcased for the first time in October 2011 at Samsung + Google “Unwrapping Ice Cream Sandwich” event in Hong Kong. A month later, on November 17th world’s first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was officially made available for purchase in Europe. S
amsung Galaxy Nexus hit the States on December 15th and AT&T was the first carrier to have Google’s dev phone in their line-up. Now rumor has it that GNex (line the Android fanboys like to call it) will soon join Sprint and will be able to support the company’s LTE network. BGR’s sources say that Galaxy Nexus Sprint release date is April 22nd, and that the US-based carrier should soon receive the merchandising materials and begin sales afterwards.
As I mentioned above Samsung Galaxy Nexus is running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and can be upgraded to Android 4.0.4. It comes with a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels and Oleophobic fingerprint-proof coating. The Android-powered smartphone also features a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP 4460 Cortex A9 processor, member of the dual core tribe helped by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU.
Galaxy Nexus sports 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal flash storage, .1.3 megapixel user-facing camera for video calls and 8 megapixel primary camera with autofocus, LED flash and support for full HD video recording. Because GNex is running on Android 4.0 you will be able to take stills while recording a video, use face unlock and take advantage of the advanced task manager and built-in data traffic manager.
In terms of connectivity the smartphone comes with WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth 3.0, 3.5mm jack, microUSB 2.0 and NFC support. Hopefully the Sprint variation will come with 4G LTE capabilities. It’s not certain yet whether the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be nicknamed Variant, but the chances for this to happen are pretty high. Sources say that Sprint have also prepared LG Viper 4G debut for April 22nd.
