How to Update the Samsung Galaxy S II i9100G with the Official 4.0.3 ICS ZCLP5 Firmware
Recently, Samsung has directed all of its attention to the Android 4.0 ICS update for its international Galaxy S II i9100 device, and to its successor which is going to be unveiled any time now. There is however another international version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, the i9100G, but you couldn’t tell it apart from the original just by its exterior. All the changes are on the inside, and this is exactly why Samsung has pushed back the Android 4.0 ICS update for the i9100G. Thankfully, the Korean giant has finally released the much awaited ICS update for its i9100G model in the form of the ZCLP5 Firmware. This guide is going to provide you with an easy way of updating your device to this latest kit of software.
A word of caution before proceeding any further: the ZCLP5 Firmware update has not been officially released yet in any part of the world, but the update in our guide is the final version that Samsung will eventually release. So in all due respect, this firmware version is a leaked official one and should be treated as such.
Even if the ZCLP5 Firmware is going to be launched as the official version in the future, there are still some risks involved in updating your Samsung Galaxy S II i9100G with it. This particular ZCLP5 Android 4.0 ICS update for the Galaxy S II i9100G can also be used as a tool to return your device to factory condition, as it does not require a rooted smartphone to be applied. If you however want to apply the update on your rooted device, doing so will revoke your root access and you will be left after the procedure with a stock Android 4.0 ICS running i9100G.
We will begin our guide with the very important aspect of backing up your personal data. Phone Contacts – You can simply synchronize them to your Gmail account or export them to the micro SD card as a .vcf file
Call Log – We will use the following application to backup your call log : Call Log Backup and Restore
Pictures, Music, Videos, and other files – Simply copy them to your microSD card.
Internet & MMS Settings – Write down all the settings from this path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
There is no need to mention all the new features this Android 4.0 ICS brings, as they are exactly the ones that can be found on the Galaxy S II i9100. I am sure that all the owners of the i9100G version have been up to date with the benefits the ICS update brought to the similar i9100 Galaxy S II.
In the list below you will find a couple of minimum safety requirements, that will help ensure that your Galaxy S II i9100G completes the updating procedure successfully. We strongly recommend that you meet the requirements below as this update also requires the presence of a Windows running PC:
The first requirement is that you have to charge your Samsung Galaxy S II i9100G to a minimum of 80% or even to full battery capacity in order to prevent it from accidentally powering off during the procedure.
The second one concerns your computer so you will need to disable any antivirus or other security related software on your computer because these tools tend to interfere with the updating program, and might cause it to misbehave, which could in turn result in a bricked Galaxy S II i9100G.
You will also need to enable the USB Debugging setting that you can find by going to Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging. Be sure you have this option enabled or otherwise the Odin application will not recognize your smartphone.

First up is the downloading step. You will have to download this ICS ZCLP5 ICS 4.0.3 Firmware package and the Odin program to your computer. We recommend downloading them to an easily reachable place, such as your desktop.
Next up, you will have to power down your Galaxy S II i9100G and restart it into Download mode. The easiest way to do this is to by pressing the Volume Down Key and the Center Key simultaneously and then pressing the Power Key after the device has been shut down. You can easily recognize if you are in the right place if you see a green droid working.
Next, you will have to connect your Galaxy S II i9100G to your computer using its original USB cable and then start the Odin application you downloaded earlier.
In the Odin application you will have to tick the: Re-partition auto-reboot F.ResetTime box. After doing so you will also have to select the following files, which you can find after extracting the firmware package downloaded at step 1, in their corresponding boxes:

In the last step you will only have to press the Start button and be patient while the program updates your Galaxy S II i9100G to the ICS ZCLP5 ICS 4.0.3 Firmware. This may take 5 to 10 minutes so do not pull out the battery of your device until it is finished.
If the booting screen is stuck on your Galaxy S II i9100G display for more than 30 minutes the update may have failed and you will have to restart your device into Download mode and retry the steps in the last part of the guide above.
