HP TouchPad Resurrected Once Again, $99 Sale Beginning This Sunday

HP TouchPad

HP still has some big plans for the TouchPad which simply refuses to die although the company killed it twice. The TouchPad zombie will return this Sunday in limited quantities and only on eBay. According to an internal memo, the first people to have access to the WebOS-powered slate, are the company’s employees as an official announcement will never be made in order to allow them to buy as many units as possible.

You should be aware that the purchases are limited to two per account so if you want more of these babies, then you will have to ask a few friends to help you out. The reason why HP wants its employees to be the first in line is because they want to find out the opinion of its family before axing WebOS altogether. The sad part is that HP didn’t take the Microsoft example who gave away more than 90,000 Windows Phone 7 devices to all of its employees worldwide.

HP is still going to charge you $99 for the 16GB version, while the 32GB unit will cost $149. There’s another downside as well: the units are refurbished, not new. Shall I mention that you will get a 90-day warranty? That’s so sad because you never know what could happen only three months after purchasing this tablet that should have competed against the iPad, but failed miserably due to HP’s poor leadership and marketing squad.

The company will see the refurbished HP TouchPads through its own eBay store and the sale is based on first come, first served. The memo says that the process will begin at 6PM Central Time on December 11th so you still have enough time to consider your options. Should you buy the $99 TouchPad or the $99 NOVO7 Android slate from China which comes with decent specs, an impressive battery life, and which is new?

We are going to leave this up to you! Please note that lots of accessories will be available this Sunday as you can buy a $79 bundle that consists of a wireless keyboard, a case, and a charging dock. All payments will be completed through PayPal, or else, it won’t work and you’ll have to look somewhere else.

The HP TouchPad features WebOS 3.0, 1.2GHz / 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 16GB / 32GB flash storage, 1GB RAM, 9.7-inch touchscreen at 1024 x 768 resolution, 1.3-megapixel camera in the front, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headset jack, built-in microphone, gyroscope, GPS, and a 6,000mAh battery.
