iOS 6 Update To Become Available For Download On September 19th
The latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 6, will become available for download in less than a week. With over 200 updates, iOS 6 is no doubt a step forward for the platform Apple dedicated to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
The lack of the panorama feature in the native camera app was always a problem for the fans of the Cupetino giant. Fortunately, iOS 6 will bring this highly-awaited feature for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th gen terminals.
Siri, the virtual assistant, has received a series of new features and improvements in iOS 6, and Apple’s voice recognition system is now available for The New iPad, too. With the help of the new Siri in iOS 6, the user can launch apps, tweet or change the Facebook status. Moreover, Siri “learnt” some new languages like, Chinese, German, Spanish and Italian. Since services like Yelp and Rotten Tomatoes have received Siri integration, the personal assistant can provide information about the best restaurants and places around you and details about your favorite movies and TV shows.
iOS 6 now comes with Facebook integration a feature that was highly demanded by the iOS users. Scot Forstall said that the Apple engineers have worked closely with Facebook’s in order to provide better services for the customers. Therefore, in iOS 6, you will be able to use Facebook from a suite of applications like the Gallery, Safari, or Siri. The Facebook contacts will be integrated in iOS 6, and the events and birthdays from the social network will be imported to the calendar.
Since Apple’s video calling service FaceTime was officially released, the users have complained that it works exclusively on WiFi. Well, the guys at Apple have fixed this problem and in iOS 6 the FaceTime calls work both on WiFi and 3G. In the countries where LTE networks are up and running, you can use FaceTime over 4G, as well.
Apple has also updated the Phone application adding a feature that allows you to send a message or fix a reminder when you don’t want or you can’t answer a phone call. Moreover, for the nights when you are extremely tired or you simply don’t want to be disturbed, you can access the new “Do Not Disturb” feature. With this option activated, you will still receive messages and phone calls, but your smartphone won’t react to them.
At the WWDC 2012 conference Apple announced that the Google Maps application has been replaced to Apple’s own mapping solution. The new application provides 3D maps, a new interface and voice turn-by-turn navigation via Siri.
iOS 6 is be compatible with the following Apple products: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 4th and 5th gen, iPad 2 and The New iPad. The software update will become available for download and, of course, some of the features will only be available exclusively for iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 5th gen and The New iPad.
