LG Optimus 3D Cube Becomes The First Smartphone With 3D Video Editing Support

LG Optimus 3D Cube 01

The South Korea-based company announced LG Optimus 3D Cube (LG-SU870), world’s first smartphone with 3D video editing functions. LG Optimus 3D cube weighs in 148g and measures 126,8 x 67,4 x 9,6 mm, being lighter and thinnest than its successor, LG Optimus 3D (P920).

LG Optimus 3D and HTC Evo 3D were the leaders of the first wave of 3D terminals, but none of them were a sales hit. It seems that the 3D smartphone manufacturers are not scared by this “minor detail” and LG announced the successor of Optimus 3D, a new terminal with 3D video recording, playback and editing capabilities.

After they unveiled the smartphones belonging to the L series, LG returns and confirms their new 3D model. We are talking about LG Optimus 3D Cube, mentioned by early rumors as LG Optimus 3D 2 or LG Optimus 3D Max. It was a busy week for the South Korean company, as they announced interesting models like LG Optimus Vu and LG Optimus LTE Tag. Now Optimus 3D Cube comes next…

LG Optimus 3D Cube comes with a 4.3-inch 3D display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, a pair of 5MP 3D cameras on the back and so far it looks like the South Koreans haven’t changed much around. But the upgrade comes from under the 9.6mm case, where they fit a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of internal flash storage, NFC chip and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. SK Telecom will start selling this device next month, with a price tag of $750, a bit to high for a not so impressive device. I truly hope that the 3D experience on LG Optimus 3D Cube, as its successor brought bot head and eye aches for the users.

I also hope that the South Korea-based company have fixed the battery life issues, as sometimes LG Optimus 3D’s battery was draining right under your eyes while using the 3D features. The device we are really eager to see is LG X3, the handset with quad-core Tegra 3 processor and 4.7-inch LCD display, rumored to be better than the 720p one installed on  LG Nitro HD. What do you think will this new 3D LG smartphone become a market success or will become just another mediocre smartphone in the company’s line-up?

LG Optimus 3D Cube will be exhibited at LG’s booth (Hall

8) at Mobile World Congress event between February 27th – March 1st, in Barcelona. LG Optimus 3D Cube will be available in South Korea starting next month.
