Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Release Date Confirmed For August 29th
Samsung Electronics, world’s biggest smartphone vendor, have confirmed Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date, as their second generation tablet will be unveiled during an event that will take place two days before the opening of IFA Berlin 2012, on August 29th, writes Reuters.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launch event is scheduled a fortnight ahead of the rumored debut of the sixth generation Apple smartphone, unofficially dubbed iPhone 5.
“We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August,” said the spokesman of the South Korea-based company. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date was set two days ahead of the opening of one of the most important consumer electronics trade fair, IFA Berlin. Early rumors were suggesting that Galaxy Note 2 will hit the market in October 2012, one year after the release of the first Samsung phablet.
The latest rumors regarding the next-gen Samsung phablet are indicating that it will sport a slightly bigger display and a more powerful processor than its predecessor. The first Galaxy Note had a 5.3-inch display, but Galaxy Note 2 will come with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, with an even higher resolution - 1680×1050 pixels – and a pixel density of 360 ppi.
Reports say that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will come with the Exynos 4 Quad SoC that debuted on the company’s flagship smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S3, oveclocked at 1.6 GHz. It will probably sport the same 8 megapixel camera found on the back case of Galaxy S3, NFC chip and 4G LTE support.
As about the operating system underpinning the phablet, it will definitely be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung won’t release an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered hig-end smartphone too soon, as the Samsung Galaxy S3 sales will be affected. The South Korean company announced that 10 million Galaxy S3 units were shipped less than two months after the smartphone was made available for purchase.
With Samsung Galaxy S3 sales skyrocketing and another powerful smartphone on the way, Galaxy Note 2, Apple’s iPhone 5 will have two fierce rivals this year.
