Samsung Galaxy S3 Is Actually Galaxy S2 Plus, Suggests Samsung Denmark Teaser

Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus

There’s not much to say about Samsung Galaxy S3, as the picture above speaks for itself. Samsung Denmark have posted a teaser on their official website, which mentions the date of May 3rd and 20:00 hours. But what intrigued us is that Plus (“+”) at the beginning of the announcement. So is Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus the smartphone that will debut on May 3rd?

If so, then this would be a fair explanation for the leaked design of the terminal that recently hit the web. Yesterday, we’ve been able to see a terminal that had nothing to do with the rumors about the highly-awaited Samsung Galaxy S3. Moreover, everyone was expecting a 12 megapixel camera and all we got was an 8 megapixel unit. We were expecting an ultraslim ceramic case and a physical button and all we got was a thick case and on-screen Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-specific buttons, so something must be wrong. The I9300 codename was frequently associated with Samsung Galaxy S3, but also with an alleged upgraded Samsung Galaxy S2. It all makes sense now, considering that the debut of Galaxy S2 Plus is on the cards.

It’s interesting though how many theories and rumors a simple “plus” can ignite, and it seems that the media is starting to create a real hype around Samsung, somehow reminding me of the success Apple had with their iPhones.

The rumors were pointing towards a quad-core Exynos chipset, 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display, NFC and LTE support, but where they the specs of Galaxy S3 or the technical details of a Galaxy S2 on steroids?

There’s one more problem about Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus launching on May 3rd: it will take at least one or two months after Plus hits the market, for Galaxy S3 to appear and cannibalize the S2 Plus sales. What do you think we will receive on May 3rd: the highly anticipated Galaxy S3 or the upgraded Galaxy S2, dubbed Plus? Will an Apple-ish approach help Samsung still sell millions? Fortunately we’ve got less than a couple of weeks to wait until the mystery will be solved.
